Stripeys, Microcanthidae
1 species of Stripeys is posted.
Stripeys are similar in shape to the butterflyfish family, but they have a complete lateral line and are distinguished by the fact that they do not undergo the Triktis larval stage.
Only one species of stripey has been confirmed in Japan, and it is a common fish in Izu and the Boso Peninsula.
They may also be classified as a subfamily within the sea chubs.
