Tilefishes, Malacanthidae

Forty species of 2 subfamilies, 5 genera and 40 species have been recorded in Tilefishes, and most of them inhabit the slightly deep sandy bottom area. Tilefish are elongated and can be seen while diving around coral reefs and reefs. Some species are popular for fishing and edible fish.
